01 METAPHYSICAL THEORY/FORM

FORMAT: PRINTED POSTER
DATE: WINTER 2024

“Metaphysical Theory / Form” is a series of digital graphics created for UCLA’s Design | Media Arts Word to Image Class.

While creating this poster, I drew a plate and ended up breaking it. Watching its form shift through this metamorphosis gave me a new understanding of change and impermanence. This process inspired me to explore Plato’s Theory of Forms — the belief that the physical world is only a shadow of ultimate reality, which exists beyond what we can see or touch.

FORMAT: PRINTED POSTER
DATE: FALL 2022

"Reality Trilogy" is a series of digital graphics created for UCLA’s Design | Media Drawing and Colors class.

I gathered fragments from my life that carried an unreal beauty alongside moments of humor, absurdity, and irony. Together, these contrasts formed an unexpected harmony, coexisting as if deliberately arranged, creating the illusion of intentional design meant to provoke thought and engage the senses.

04 CHILDREN FROM THE STARS

FORMAT: PRINTED POSTER
DATE: WINTER 2024

"Children from the Stars" is a digital graphics created for UCLA’s Design | Media Arts Word + Image class.

I stepped away from fully digital creation, using crayon drawings later composed on the computer. The poster reflects the vitality, innocence, and boundless imagination of childhood—tempered by the reality that children remain grounded, both physically and by age. They dream of flying, running faster, leaping into the sky, yet the gap between dream and reality lingers, giving the work a wistful tone.

Selected for the 5th Ecuador Poster Bienal 2024 as the sole U.S. entry in Category C, chosen from 10,832 submissions (4.69% acceptance) and exhibited at Quito’s renowned Centro Cultural Metropolitano.

06 LOVE, THE SHAPE OF YOU

star

full image

FORMAT: PRINTED POSTER
DATE: WINTER 2024

"Love, the Shape of You" is a series of digital graphics created for UCLA’s Design | Media Arts Word + Image class.

Inspired by the typographic poem Ode to Typography, I designed the poster by drawing from the aesthetic of national geographic magazines. I created a surreal collage by cutting out textured natural landscapes, then photographed the composition and refined it digitally to achieve a polished, layered effect.

09 MEET ARTIST: RENE MAGRITTE

FORMAT: PRINTED BANNER
DATE: SPRING 2023

“Meet Artist: René Magritte” is a banner created for the Design | Media Arts Motion class. The banner was inspired by my discovery of a book featuring René Magritte’s extraordinary exhibition at the Getty Museum store in Los Angeles. The goal was to create a poster reflecting Magritte’s distinctive style, designed as an engaging introduction for the museum’s exhibition banner.

Magritte, a Belgian surrealist painter, is known for his absurd aesthetics and thought-provoking symbolism. Embracing his artistic philosophy, I used vivid colors and collage to evoke a sense of absurdity and mystery.

10 VINCENT VAN GOGH

FORMAT: MERCHANDISE DESIGN
DATE: WINTER 2024

“Vincent van Gogh” is a fridge magnet design featuring the capital “V” filled with a collage of his iconic works.

Drawing inspiration from the refined craftsmanship and thoughtful integration of traditional art within contemporary merchandise commonly found in museum stores, I aimed to capture a sense of timeless elegance in this piece. To offer versatility, I designed two color variations -- one in crisp white and the other in a rich red.

14 IMPRINTS

FORMAT: PRINTED POSTER
DATE: FALL 2022

Imprints is a counter-mapping of Valley Christian High School, San Jose, created for the Design | Media Arts Drawing and Colors class.

Imprints is a visual map of my four-year transformative high school journey, inspired by the stark black-and-white aesthetic of the video game World of Horror. Drawing on its glitchy interface style, I designed an interactive map that invites viewers to explore and uncover hidden details, creating a sense of personal discovery.

Nestled on a hill, Valley Christian High School exuded an Arcadian charm distinct from its surroundings. In the middle left, the illustration captures three defining facets of my high school years: the San Jose neighborhood, the rolling yellow hills, and the Conservatory, a landmark of the campus. In the top right, an aerial view of the school maps the traces of my four years, each moment marked in red.

In the 2023 DMA Undergraduate exhibition, Imprints were honored to receive an award.
